Volna Travel's 2019 Signature Tour
This short, 7-day tour offers a truly comprehensive and action-packed experience. It covers both main islands! You'll see the country's main attractions – the distinctive Maori culture, incredible geothermal fields, the fairytale Hobbiton, captivating fjords, and much more that makes the Land of the Long White Cloud famous! Visit four cities: Auckland, Rotorua, Christchurch, and Queenstown.
Ideal for travellers combining a trip to Australia and New Zealand.

The isthmus on which Auckland lies was first settled around 1350. The Māori population in the area is estimated to have peaked at 20,000 before the arrival of Europeans. After the British colony was established in 1840, William Hobson, then Lieutenant Governor of New Zealand, chose this area as his new capital in 1841 and named it after George Eden, Earl of Auckland, Britain's first Lord of the Admiralty. Although Wellington became the capital in 1865, Auckland has always remained the country's most populous city. In Māori, Auckland is Tāmaki. Thanks to the Department of Tourism Development, the city has also been nicknamed the "City of Sails" since 1985—and no wonder—the city is home to over 100,000 yachts and pleasure boats.
